Synopsis

‘Eagle Eye’ is a suspense thriller revolving around Jerry Shaw (LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan), two strangers who are thrown together by a phone call of an unknown woman. Shaw returns from the funeral of his twin, Ethan to find $751,000 in his bank account and his apartment filled with explosives and forged documents. The mysterious woman arranges for his escape and he is joined by a single mother, Rachel who is coerced into working for the mysterious woman under the threats of killing her son Sam, a trumpet player on his way to Washington, D.C. The situation takes turn for the worse when these innocent victims are proclaimed nation’s most wanted fugitives. With that woman using everyday pieces of technology to monitor their every move, the two must rack their brains to figure out the reason for being targeted and remain one step ahead in this cat-and-mouse race if they want to reclaim their lives.

Movie Errors

How ever good a movie may be, there are always a few loop holes that can be found out even in the best of the works. Here are a few mistakes of the movie, which probably the director\producers of the movie could not locate, but sharp eyes of the viewers couldn’t miss them.

When the Secretary of Defense leads Agent Perez to the B36 floor, there are Marines under arms and covered (have their hats on) yet they do not salute. Any Marine under arms is required to salute any higher ranking officer, including the President and Vice President, and would have been required to salute the Secretary of Defense, who is in his chain of command.

When Agent Perez gets out of the cooling pool at the end of the movie, she grabs a metal rod and shoves it into the eye of Eagle Eye. When she does this all kinds of electrical sparks fly, and even though she is completely sopping wet, including her hands, she is not electrocuted.

When Agent Perez’s helicopter takes off from “Chicago” after the recovery of the Cayenne, her helicopter has a California flag on its tail. read more . . .

Inside Eagle Eye, Rachel takes a Glock 19 off a dead soldier. The U.S. Military sidearm is a Beretta 92.

This is a movie, without the look and feel of what we have come to expect and associate with a Bond movie. No opening number sung by a booming diva to prepare us for the company of suave and stylish Bond making love to gorgeous women, no car with cool armor and trick gadgets, no Bond catchphrase- “The name is Bond. James Bond.” No Bond’s Martini- “Shaken not stirred.” And where are the girls, the fantastic and stunning girls that are hallmark of any Bond Movie?

If you can put your usual Bond movie fixations and expectations aside then it’s actually a good movie. Bond is stoned under the shock of betrayal and recovering from the loss of love. The action is fast and furious but intriguingly the film exists in the convincing sphere of world politics that was never witnessed before in Bond franchise. Craig carries the role impressively and can deliver a pun well. Mathieu Amalric has proved himself to be one of the better villains if not the best, but his plan is not quite as diabolical as it could have been. Even if it’s not the best Bond movie, it’s defiantly a Bond movie, not to be missed at any cost.
