Scoop: Iron Man 2 Plot And Villain Details

6-May-2008: Marvel Studios made it official yesterday, announcing that Iron Man 2 is now a sure thing. That means it’s time to start thinking about what direction they’ll go for the sequel, and don’t think for a minute that Marvel doesn’t already have plans. Tonight I got a message from a long time friend of the site, and one of our most spot on, regular scoopers. She’s had her ears out, and tells us she knows some of the things currently being considered for the next Iron Man movie.

Iron Man 2 Begins Shooting!

9-June-2008: Superhero origin stories are old hat. By now, we’ve all seen enough super hero franchise startups that we can tell the story in our sleep. Something tragic happens to our soon-to-be hero, he goes through a catharsis that leads to his masked alter-ego. There’s probably a lot of computer-generated (CG) effects in between and maybe a love interest that never seems to develop. And yet, Iron Man’s first outing was still a hell of a lot of fun.

Robert Downey Jr. Talks About Iron Man’s ‘Hulk’ Cameo

9-June-2008: It’s appropriate that we caught up with one of today’s most in-demand actors at the film-industry convention ShoWest in Sin City, because Robert Downey Jr. is on a roll. The May 2 release of “Iron Man” will most certainly give us one of 2008’s biggest hits, and three months later, we’ll see Downey again, in Ben Stiller’s “Apocalypse Now”-meets-”Ocean’s Eleven” comedy “Tropic Thunder.” The disparate movies make for a unique situation, as Downey admits that the recent controversy over some photos of his “Tropic Thunder” character in blackface have clashed with his “Iron Man” good will to create, well, a Stark contrast.

Jon Favreau: ‘Iron Man 2′ Or ‘The Avengers’?

10-July-2008: A release date has been set, the principal cast will be returning and honchos at Marvel are already talking up potential villains. Just one month after its release, the overwhelming success of “Iron Man” has everyone talking sequel — including director Jon Favreau, the one guy in this whole affair who isn’t even officially committed to the project.

‘Iron Man‘: Heavy Mettle, By Kurt Loder

The movie is an origin story, and so before it gets around to a whole lot else, it must first introduce us to billionaire munitions genius Tony Stark and relate to us the details of his swinging, Bond-like lifestyle; his near-mortal injury and capture while on a business visit to war-torn Afghanistan; his wily construction, while in captivity, of a jumbo suit of flame-throwing, high-flying armor; and his subsequent escape, moral turnabout and commitment to fighting evil wherever it may be found. All of this is necessary, of course, but it’s terribly time-consuming.

Extras dazzle in double-disc ‘Iron Man’

2-Oct-2008: Most summers, a $300 million-plus blockbuster like “Iron Man” would have been the heavy hitter of the season. But Robert Downey Jr.’s entry into the superhero business turned out to be the leadoff batter for the half-billion-dollar smash “The Dark Knight.” Downey stars as boozy, womanizing billionaire and inventor Tony Stark, whose abduction by terrorists leads him to build a high-tech, gadget-loaded metal suit and embark on a crusade to save the world and boost his healthy ego a bit more.

Dell Offers to Pre-Load Iron Man Movie

21-sept-2008: PC maker Dell looks to be trying to ratchet up competition for the hearts and minds of entertainment-centric computer users: the company has inked a deal with Paramount to offer its recent superhero flick Iron Man as a pre-loaded option on its Inspiron, Studio, and XPS notebook and desktop lines. Adding the movie to a new computer’s configuration costs $20, and comes with bonus content in addition to the film itself. The content is protected by Microsoft Windows Media digital rights management, although customers will be able to burn one copy to DVD and push the movie to a television using Windows Media Center extenders. (Oh, but high-def fans will be disappointed: Dell’s $20 Iron Man offering is in standard definition.) And, Dell, notes, all content sales are final: if you don’t like the movie, there are no refunds.
