Synopsis

‘My Best Friend’s Girl’ is a story about two friends, Dustin and Tank. Tank is a ruggedly sexy exceedingly crude “emotional terrorist“, who makes extra money by taking girls on the worst date of their lives in order to prompt them to get back to their ex, who now don’t look so bad after all. A change in Tank’s life comes, when Dustin employs

his services when he is dumped by Alexis. Tank takes Alexis to a date, but soon realizes that she is different from the rest and even she is attracted towards him. He soon finds himself in a flux, where he has to deal with his feelings for Alexis and his loyalty towards his best friend. What will Tank choose, especially when Dustin is trying to mess up everything, from his level.

The director allowed the actors, particularly Dane Cook, to improvise extensively, often diverging completely from the script. He would sometimes run 20 or more takes, letting the performers do something different every time, before settling on a few of those ideas in order to get pick-ups or close-ups. This made life particularly interesting for the principal and background actors in the scene with Dane, as well as for the prop and sound personnel.read more….

Dane Cook tanks ‘My Best Friend’s Girl’
2 October 2008: When watching “My Best Friend’s Girl,” it’s important to keep in mind who the three leads actually are. There’s the aggravating, loudmouth comedian-turned-actor, Goldie Hawn’s romantic comedy typecast daughter and the guy who stuck his dick in a pie for some cheap laughs almost 10 years ago. Expectations should be a little low.
And, still, it’s a surprisingly superficial and pandering film.

2 October 2008: It’s a very glamorous thing to be from Lexington. Just ask Alexis Lessans.
Lessans, a 1994 graduate of Lexington High School, served as the inspiration for the title character in the new movie “My Best Friend’s Girl.”
Actress Kate Hudson plays a character named Alexis in the movie, who was crafted to resemble Lessans by the writer, Jordan Cahan, and Lessans’ husband, Greg, who is the movie’s producer.
“There are a lot worse things than having Kate Hudson play you in a movie,” Lessans said.

Dane Cook back on the big screen with ‘My Best Friend’s Girl’
3 October 2008: LOS ANGELES — When Dane Cook was 3, he was attacked — and almost killed, he says — by a German shepherd. Beneath his hair is a zigzagging scar that became etched into his cranium after receiving nearly 80 stitches.
Following the disclosure of this “fun fact,” as he coyly calls it, the actor-comedian uses the opportunity to tell a joke.
“Hopefully, someday, I’ll play a James Bond villain,” he says. “I’ll shave my head, so you can see all the ravines.”
Such a role would probably have more bite than Cook’s previous efforts on the big screen. Like as Dennis Rodman’s wisecracking sidekick in the forgettable 1999 action flick “Simon Sez.”

‘My Best Friend’s Girl’ is a sweet story about a man, Tank, who is not so sweet and is generally considered a sexual buccaneer. But he can’t help falling in love, when he finds the right girl, even if the girl is his best friend’s girl. The movie has a decent comedy and a decent storyline, though there is nothing that is unpredictable about the storyline. Overall it is a sweet romantic-comedy, that you will enjoy, if you are not expecting anything new, but a simple love story.

‘My Best Friend’s Girl’ is a very different and unique romantic comedy. The movie has a good storyline, which keeps the viewers interested through out and till the end we are not sure that what will happen of Tank. The movie also is very- very funny and will make you laugh till the end. Overall it is an enjoyable movie. read more….
