Movie Mistakes

When the red car lands after flipping over the limo, the front driver’s side suspension and chassis collapse from the impact, but in the next shot, the car is intact again.

There is a scene where Angelina Jolie aka Fox, is shown, I believe walking outside of the textile mill with her hair down and flowy. Then in the next shot, her hair is in a ponytail.

Trivia

This is Director Timur Bekmambetov’s first American film.

Originally, a comic book by Top Cow Productions, written by Mark Millar.

In the office at the end of the film a nameplate is visible on one of the cubicle walls. The nameplate reads “J.G Millar” which is a composite of writer Mark Millar and artist J.G. Jones, on whose comic the film is based.

Goofs for Wanted

Continuity: When Wesley Gibson has been tied to the chair and had his face punched, there is a clear cut on the bridge on his nose which disappears then re-appears in some shots.
Revealing mistakes: During the chase sequence in which Wesley drives the Mustang and Fox drives the C4 Corvette, a camera shot briefly shows Fox’s hand down shifting from above. However, it shows the shift lever from the Dodge Viper used earlier in the movie.

Mark Millar Calls ‘Kick-Ass’ The Greatest Movie of 2009?
12 September 2008: It’s not like Mark Millar is the most reserved guy when it comes to his enthusiasm for his work, but even for him, this might be a little much. Over at Millar World (a fan forum), the man himself weighed in with an update on Matthew Vaughn’s version of his comic series, Kick-Ass, and says, “I hereby declare Kick-Ass as the greatest movie of 2009.” Pretty bold words for a movie that stars Nicolas Cage, don’t you think? (you can read the full details over at the Millar forums.)
Angelina Jolie Wants Her Son Back!
11 September 2008: A trailer for Changeling has appeared online. It is directed by Clint Eastwood and stars a 1928 version of Angelina Jolie, who has a habit of throwing in some meaty drama roles in between the two hour posing session that are Wanted and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. In Changeling (previously The Exchange) Christine Collins’ (Jolie) prayers are met when her kidnapped…

Movie reviews

Wanted is unbelievably fast, full of action and has some amazing jaw dropping stunts. The movie was amazing for action lovers like me. I don’t know about the story line but I loved the action sequences and the special effects of the movie. Amazing Angelina Jolie, she was as usual looking stunning in the movie. I don’t know about the others, but it was a fun watch for me.

Whatever you say, the film has some of the best action sequences with some good humor and drama that will make you watch the movie again and again. Wanted is one of the best action movies, especially when it comes to bullets. With James McAvoy in the lead along with sexy looking Angelina Jolie, Wanted gives the audience what it wants, making them coming back to the movie.

The movie is full of two things, some deep meanings which didn’t make sense at all and the other was the fights which never, not even for a minute subside in the movie. Beside that there was nothing in the movie. It was total no-no at least for me. Well as this was the first American film for director Timur Bekmambetov, he should better come up with something good the next time. The movie is a complete waste of time.

Based on Mark Millar and J.G. Jones’ popular comic book series, the movie is actually very different from the comic. I guess the movie is full of action and does not follow any rules for that. Anyways, to me the comic was much better than the movie and I guess it would have been better if it could have been kept it like that only. Read more…

Elsewhere, a man named “MR. X“, had gone to meet a ballistics expert, when the ballistics expert is shot by a sniper and in return they are shot dead by “MR. X”. After the whole incident, we see “MR. X” standing on the roof of a building and talking to someone on phone. Unaware of the fact that he is standing on a marked spot. He is killed by a man named Cross, the very next moment.

The scene again shifts to Gibson. One night when he is at a pharmacy shop, he meets this mysterious woman, who informs him that his father has been killed the last night. While Gibson is trying to decipher who the woman is and what is happening, Cross again appears on scene and starts shooting at them. In defense, the woman also shoots back and somehow they are able to run away from the scene. After a wild car chase on the roads of Chicago, the woman brings Gibson to the Headquarters of ‘The Fraternity‘, a thousand-year-old secret society of assassins, of which his father was also a member. There he is introduced to Sloan, the leader of the group and also to the mysterious woman as FOX. There Sloan decides to test Gibson by making him shoot the wings off a fly. When Wesley refuses, he is made to the same with a gun point on his head. In a panicky situation, somehow Gibson is able to shoot the wings off several flies. Sloan then explains him that he was able to do so because his heart beats 400 times a second when he is tensed. When Sloan asks him if he wants to know how to control this condition, he escapes from the place. Back at his apartment, when he gets up in the morning, he wants to believe that everything was a mere dream. But to his surprise this incident changes his life completely.

On getting up he finds his fathers gun, which he had hidden in the toilet tank. He also finds himself richer by $3.6 million. A sudden change is seen in his attitude, when he goes to his office, thrashes his boss and also takes revenge from his best friend. When he walks out of his office he notices his and Fox’s pictures in the newspapers as being wanted for the pharmacy shooting a day before. Next, he sees Fox waiting for him, who then drives him to the Fraternity Headquarters, an unpretentious textile mill.

Gibson now becomes the member of the Fraternity and after completing his training, he is now given orders to kill people. The order comes from a loom of fate, a loom that gives the names of the targets in the form of a binary code hidden in weaving errors of the fabric. Gibson is given his first order of killing. Gibson is not too sure of him and discusses with Fox, whether it is right to kill someone without knowing why the person deserves to die. Fox then narrates an incident to Gibson how, a child was held at knifepoint by a killer, as they waited for her father to come home. Her father was a judge and the killer had been hired to take revenge for the punishment that he had given by a defendant. Her father was then burned alive in front of her and later the killer scribbled his initials into her neck. Fox then explains him that the killer was on the list of the assassin and that the assassin was not able to fulfill their duty. She further tells Gibson about the motive of the Fraternity: “to kill one and maybe save thousands”, finally convincing him that he will be killing for good. When she gets up to leave, Gibson notices her neck and realizes that the story was about her.

Now that Gibson is into killing, and keeps getting orders from Sloan, every time he would ask if it is Cross this time, as he was too eager to take his Father’s revenge. Soon his wish is fulfilled when Sloan asks Gibson to kill Cross and in the same breadth orders Fox to kill Gibson.

To fulfill their next mission, Fox and Gibson, travel to Europe, which is also the Fraternity’s original base of operations. Once in Europe, the two easily catch hold of Pekwarsky, and force him to take them to Cross. The meeting between Cross and Gibson soon turns into a fight on a moving train. Fox on the other hand steals a car, bangs into the train, causing the train to derail, when it is on the top of bridge over a deep ravine. Cross saves the life of Wesley, as he was about to fall in the ravine. But the very next moment, Wesley kills Cross. Before dying, Cross tells Wesley that he is his real father. He further confirms it from Fox who tells him that Cross was his real father and that Fraternity was lying to him as he was the only person Cross would not kill. Fox then tells Wesley that she has been given the orders to kill him and points his gun towards him. Wesley then immediately shoots at the glass beneath him, making him fall into the river below.

Next, we see Wesley in an apartment, with Pekwarsky. On further investigation he finds that the apartment is his father’s and that he has kept a record of him through out his life. While still in conversation with Pekwarsky, he tells him that his father wanted him to have a life free from violence and that he never tried to kill him. In fact he had always being assassinating Fraternity members to keep them away from him. He also tells him that Sloan had somehow discovered that he was the next target of Loom of fate. So he turned against the Fraternity and started ordering his own kill orders. After this conversation between the two, Pekwarsky leaves giving Wesley plane tickets and wishing him life that his father wanted from him. But Wesley has some other plans. He then thinks of a plan to take revenge from Sloan.

On getting back, Gibson goes to Sloan’s office, where he finds himself surrounded by Fox and other members of the assassin. Gibson then tells them that Sloan is giving fake kill orders and that he is killing for profit. Gibson then tries to kill Sloan but is stopped by Fox. Fox then confronts Sloan and asks if all that Gibson said was true. Sloan then explains himself, by saying that all of their names had come up in the weaving, and that he was just trying to protect them. He further goes on to say that they should all kill themselves if they believe in code and if they don’t then they should kill Wesley. All the assassins turn towards Gibson, when Fox turns towards her fellowmen and decides to save Gibson. She “curves” a bullet to kill the assassins who had been standing in a circle, then throws her gun to Wesley before stepping back into the bullet. Somehow, Sloan is able to escape from the circle.

After the fight scene, we again find Wesley in a situation where he doesn’t know what to do with himself. The scene then shifts to a young man, who is shown sitting in front of a computer, where he types the name of Wesley Gibson, and searches for it in Google, getting no results to it, just as in the beginning of the movie. Now Sloan appears on the scene. We see him pointing a gun towards a man, who he thinks is Wesley, but turns out to be a decoy. All confused, he looks down and finds himself standing on a marked spot. At the same time Wesley who is actually miles away, has been keeping an eye on Sloan, shoots him on the head, from the same apartment from where his father killed MR.X in the beginning of the movie. It is also shown that the same bullet passes through an energy drink that his best friend was holding and also passes through a donut that his boss was about to eat, before it killed Sloan.

The movie ends with Wesley talking to his audience giving them an overview of his past six months and saying “This is me taking back control of my life. What the fuck have you done lately?”
