Movie Review

I am a huge fan of the Narnia books and movies. When I heard that a second part is being made I was really excited. After watching the movie, I felt that the movie actually missed out on many details that were there in the book. But beside the details the movie was excellently made and was thoroughly entertaining. It had amazing visuals, very good action and the acting part was remarkable. This part keeps up to the standards of Narnia movies and I hope that they make another part to it soon.

I was not very impressed with the story line but the movie had awesome special effects. Agreed that it is not as good as the first one, but I still enjoyed the movie and never felt that it was boring or was being dragged at any time. Definitely you can watch it once.

“The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” is a story of liberation and re-establishment with some intriguing aspects of Narnian history, culture, and mythology.

This one is more entertaining, exciting and energetic than the previous one. Especially the fight scenes, they were beautifully done. I don’t know about others but I found this one more entertaining than the previous one. Except for the storyline which was more political this time, the movie is great.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian-Movie Error

  1. When the Pevensies are outside their treasure chamber in Cair Paravel, Peter tears off a piece of his shirt to make a makeshift torch. A few shots later, once they’re in the chamber, the missing piece has gotten bigger.
  2. In the scene where Miraz tells Glozelle to murder three of his men (right after Miraz and Sopespian are walking to their horses), Miraz’s collar on his blue jacked repeatedly switches from folded down to straight up in consecutive shots.
  3. In the Pevensies’ treasure chamber, there is a giant rock on top of Peter’s treasure chest. When he opens the chest, there is no sound of the rock hitting the ground.
  4. When Miraz talks to Dr. Cornelius about Susan’s horn, he drives an arrow into a pile of parchment, and it sticks out slanted. A few shots later when Miraz talks to Lord Sopespian, the arrow sticks up straight.
  5. When the Telmaries are building their war machines, there is a shot of a two-man saw being used to cut timber. There is no sawdust falling from either the saw blade or the wood itself.
  6. When Caspian confronts Miraz in the bedroom, he holds his sword with the point directly at Miraz’s throat. But in one shot, the blade is on Miraz’s neck with the point past his head.
  7. In the scene where Caspian enters Miraz’s room at night during the castle raid, there is one shot where Caspian is standing over Miraz in bed. The shadow of a camera is visible on Caspian’s shoulder.
  8. In the scene where the Pevensies enter their treasure chamber at Cair Paravel, they open the locked door by removing part of the rotten door around the lock. However, when the door swings inwards, the lock remains in the door itself, not in the frame of the door as it should.
  9. The underground train, at the end, has sliding doors. Sliding automatic doors weren’t invented until 1954.
  10. When Peter first dislocates his arm in the fight with Miraz, his arm is snapped backwards, away from the body. However, when Edmund later “relocates” it for him, he is still pushing it backwards, away from the body, which would just dislocate it even more.
  11. When Peter and Miraz are fighting, Peter stabs Miraz in the stomach and brings the sword back up for the killing stroke. There is no blood on the sword. This may be deliberate on the part of Disney, so as not to show blood, but a mistake nonetheless.
  12. As the Pevensies hold hands in the train station about to be transported to Narnia, they see a beach appearing directly in front of them. Moments later in Narnia, that beach view is way off to their right side, and the view in front of them is a cave wall.
  13. In the scene where Caspian is talking to the Badger and Dwarf in the cave, the Badger puts a bowl of soup (on a tray) on the table. The camera cuts to Caspian, and when it cuts back, the tray and soup are both gone.
  14. During the confrontation in Miraz’s bedroom, Caspian’s sword pricks his neck, drawing blood that starts running down his neck. The length of the blood trail changes from shot to shot: first it’s down to his collarbone, then mid-neck, then back to the collarbone.
  15. When the Pevensies save Trumpkin and he starts complaining, from behind you can see his gag covering his beard, but from the front, his gag has been removed completely.
  16. When Peter is talking to the White Witch, he has a deep cut above his left eye. when the camera changes to show Edmund stabbing the Witch from behind, Peter is miraculously healed, because in the next screen is Peter sitting down, breathing hard. But look above his left eye. No cut.
  17. Throughout all the battles, there is never any blood on any of the swords that are used.
  18. Near the end, when Peter bows before Aslan, the giant lion isn’t visible in the reflection of Peter’s sword, but the crew is.

Trumpkin: You’re one to talk.
Reepicheep: Is that supposed to be irony?

Prince Caspian: Two days ago, I didn’t believe in the existence of talking animals… of dwarves or… or centaurs. Yet here you are, in strengths and numbers that we Telmarines could never have imagined. Whether this horn
[raises horn for all to see]
Prince Caspian: is magic or not, it brought us together… and together, we have a chance to take back what is ours!

Lucy Pevensie: They’re so still.
Trumpkin: The trees? What did you expect?
Lucy Pevensie: They used to dance.

Doctor Cornelius: [wakes Prince Caspian]
Prince Caspian: Five more minutes.

Lucy Pevensie: I wonder who lived here.
Susan Pevensie: [picks up a small gold statue] I think we did.
Edmund Pevensie: Hey, that’s mine! From my chess set!
Peter Pevensie: Which chess set?
Edmund Pevensie: Well I didn’t exactly have a solid gold chess set in Finchley, did I?

Edmund Pevensie: I know, it’s confusing.

___________________________________________

Lucy Pevensie: What happened?
Peter Pevensie: Ask him.
Susan Pevensie: Peter!
Prince Caspian: Me? You could have called it off, there was still time.
Peter Pevensie: No there wasn’t thanks to you. If you had kept to the plan those soldiers might be alive right now.
Prince Caspian: And if you just had stayed here as I suggested they definitely would be!
Peter Pevensie: You called us, remember?
Prince Caspian: My first mistake.
Peter Pevensie: No. Your first mistake was thinking you could lead these people
Peter Pevensie: [turns around and begins to walk off]
Prince Caspian: Hey!
Peter Pevensie: [Peter turns to look at him]
Prince Caspian: I am not the one who abandoned Narnia.
Peter Pevensie: You invaded Narnia. You have no more right leading than Miraz does.
[Caspian pushes past Peter]
Peter Pevensie: You, him, your father! Narnia’s better off without the lot of you!

___________________________________________

Edmund Pevensie: You’re welcome.
Peter Pevensie: [Peter stands up] I had it sorted.
Susan Pevensie: What was it this time?
Peter Pevensie: He bumped me.
Lucy Pevensie: So you hit him?
Peter Pevensie: No, after he bumped me they tried to make me apologize. That’s when I hit him.
Susan Pevensie: Really, is it that hard to just walk away?
Peter Pevensie: I shouldn’t have to! I mean, don’t you ever get tired of being treated like a kid?
Edmund Pevensie: We are kids!
Peter Pevensie: Well I wasn’t always.

___________________________________________

Edmund Pevensie: [to Peter] I know, you had it sorted.

___________________________________________

Trufflehunter: Enough, Nikabrik! Or do I have to sit on your head again?

___________________________________________

Lucy Pevensie: Oh my gosh, he’s so cute.
Reepicheep: [Reepicheep draws his sword and looks around] Who said that?
Lucy Pevensie: Um, sorry.

___________________________________________

Lucy Pevensie: I wish you would all stop trying to sound like grown-ups! I didn’t think I saw him, I did see him.
Trumpkin: I… *am* a grown-up.

___________________________________________

Edmund Pevensie: I left my new torch in Narnia.

___________________________________________

Edmund Pevensie: [after helping Peter in a fight with couple of boys from school] You’re welcome.
Peter Pevensie: I had it sorted.

___________________________________________

Susan Pevensie: Who exactly are you doing this for, Peter?

___________________________________________

Edmund Pevensie: [to Miraz concerning the proposed duel to the death] So you’re bravely refusing to fight a swordsman half your age?

___________________________________________

Prince Caspian: [gives Susan her horn back] Maybe it’s time you had this back.
Susan Pevensie: [gives the horn back] Why don’t you hold on to it - you might need to call me again.
[a pause while Susan and Caspian exchange a long glance]
Lucy Pevensie: [quoting Susan as they ride off] “You might need to call me again”?
Susan Pevensie: Oh, shut up.

___________________________________________

Doctor Cornelius: [to Prince Caspian] Everything you know is about to change.

___________________________________________

Prince Caspian: I wish we could have had more time together.
Susan Pevensie: We never would have worked, anyway.
Prince Caspian: Why not?
Susan Pevensie: Well, I am 1300 years older than you.

___________________________________________

Peter Pevensie: What do you suppose happens back home if you die here?

___________________________________________

Pattertwig the Squirrel: We could gather nuts!
Reepicheep: [sarcastically] Yes! And then throw them at the Telmarines!… Shut up.

___________________________________________

Prince Caspian: [Caspian and Peter begin a swordfight. Peter's sword gets stuck in a tree, so he attempts to pick up a rock to hit Caspian]
Lucy Pevensie: No! Stop!
Peter Pevensie: [after seeing the Narnians gathering around] Prince Caspian?
Prince Caspian: And who are you?
[Susan and Edmund run over]
Susan Pevensie: Peter!
Prince Caspian: High King Peter?
Peter Pevensie: I believe you called.
Prince Caspian: I thought you’d be… older.
Peter Pevensie: Well if you like, we can come back in a few years.
Prince Caspian: No! No, it’s alright! You’re not exactly what I expected.
Prince Caspian: [locks eyes with Susan]
Edmund Pevensie: Neither are you.

___________________________________________

Nikabrik: I told you we should have killed him when we had the chance.
Trufflehunter: You know why we can’t!
Prince Caspian: If we’re taking a vote, I’m with him.

___________________________________________

Susan Pevensie: [referring to Peter] I wish he’d just listened to the D.L.F. in the first place!
Edmund Pevensie: D.L.F.?
Lucy Pevensie: Dear Little Friend.
Trumpkin: Oh… that’s not at all patronizing, is it?

___________________________________________

Reepicheep: Choose your last words carefully, Telmarine.
Prince Caspian: You are a mouse.
Reepicheep: I was hoping for something a little more original.

___________________________________________

Lucy Pevensie: [holding up one of her old dresses] I was so tall.
Susan Pevensie: Well, you were older then.
Edmund Pevensie: As opposed to hundreds of years later, when you’re younger.

  1. When Caspian enters Miraz’s room at night, during the raid of the castle, the camera pulls out to a shot where Caspian is standing over Miraz in bed. A camera shadow is visible on Caspian’s shoulder.
  2. When the Pevensies are outside their treasure chamber in Cair Paravel, Peter tears off a piece of his shirt to make a makeshift torch. After Edmund takes out his flashlight, the camera once again shows Peter. The missing piece of his shirt has gotten bigger and is also on the wrong side.
  3. When our heroes are spying on the bad guys who are busy building artillery it is easy to see that the logs they are hiding behind have been limbed with a saw, not an ax which would be much quicker and more evident to an army in a hurry. Looks very much like they were done with a chainsaw.
  4. When the Narnians are storming the Telmarine castle, Edmund finds himself trapped on a high up ledge with many guards up there with him. We see from a shot taken from below a guard falling off, but all the other guards including Edmund have vanished, then re-appear in the next shot.
  5. After Miraz backhands General Glozelle, there is blood on the general’s lips. However, when there is a closeup of the general at the end of the scene, only his bottom lip is bloody. There is no sign indicating that he wiped the blood away, especially since he was holding a sword in his hand and would have been unable to.
  6. When Miraz’s troops are marching, the sound of their marching is not synchronized to their footsteps.
