Movie Reviews
A treat for Sandler fans. Last week when I went to see the movie, within five minutes I knew that it would be great and it was. The movie makes you laugh till the end. Besides the comedy part, the movie shows that there is still some hope for the Palestinians and the Jews. The movie has a lot of humor, though it is adult humor. But still it was entertaining and full of laughter. A must watch.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Trailer
Trivia
- In one scene, Indy comments “I have a bad feeling about this.” This line was a running gag in George Lucas’ Star Wars saga, and was used by Harrison Ford at least once.
- The young Henry nicknamed himself “Mutt, which is also a term for a dog. Indy named himself after a dog he had as a child that was called Indiana (as noted in the third movie). This is the first hint about their relationship.
- When Indy and Mutt are riding the motorcycle through the study hall, they almost run over a nerdy, book-carrying student who gives the “Wilhelm Scream”. This classic scream has been frequently heard in movies for at least the past three decades.
- During the classroom scene, Indy assigns homework from a textbook by someone named “Michaelson”. He mentions this same textbook in the classroom scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. read more….
Movie Error
- The movie supposedly is taking place in 1957, yet the motorcycle that Mutt rides is based on a 2000 or newer Harley Davidson softail, showing the modern day controls and Twin Cam motor, instead of the panhead motor that would have been the period correct engine of 1957. It also has a front disc brake - you can see the master cylinder on the handlebars. Again, out of place on a 1957 bike.
- In the warehouse scene, the lights and other metal objects are affected by the box’s magnetic field. Yet the soldiers easily lift the box into a metal truck to load it and slide it forward. If the box’s magnetic field was as strong as suggested, it would have dragged the soldiers forward as it was magnetically attracted to the truck, and it would have taken much more effort for them to slide it onto the truck bed once it was stuck there.
- Indy and Mutt fly to Nazca, Peru. Nazca is only 4 hours away on bus from the capital Lima, yet the city they show on the movie is Cuzco, which is 24 hours away from Lima. Cuzco is on the east side of the country, Nazca is on the west coast right next to Lima. Also, back in 1957 only Lima had an airport, yet they show a Nazca airport that didn’t exist. read more…..
Movie Goofs
- After the giant ant scene and Irina is hanging off the cliff by a rope with the other soldiers, a silver wire that is holding her up is seen leading down to Irina’s waist right next to the rope she is holding onto. It is seen for only a few short seconds.
- During the scene in the diner when he is talking to Mutt, Indy’s shirt collar repeatedly moves from behind to in front of the lapel of his jacket.
- In the scene where Indy and Mutt are in the café talking, Indiana is drinking coffee. When he sets down the mug the handle is pointed to Indy’s left hand side. From Mutt’s point of view the handle is pointing to Mutt’s left hand side.
- When Indy and Mutt are in the restaurant, Indy’s left hand alternates between holding the coffee cup and resting on the table, depending on the direction of the view. read more….
Memorable Quotes
Mutt Williams: You know, for an old man you ain’t bad in a fight. What are you, like 80?
Mutt Williams: Get on, Gramps!
Col. Dr. Irina Spalko: You fight like a young man; eager to start and quick to finish.
Col. Dr. Irina Spalko: Belief, Dr. Jones, is a gift you have yet to receive. My sympathies.
Indiana Jones: Oh, I believe, sister. That’s why I’m down here.

Indiana Jones Brings The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull In October
Indiana Jones is the latest to join the October calendar of DVD releases, when this year’s return of the man with the hat makes its way to DVD and Blu-ray on October 14th. The re-release of Indy’s previous adventures may have been a double dip earlier this year, but they set the stage for a pretty promising release for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Indy Cracks His Whip Again In The Crystal Skull
25 September, 2008 After a small scuffle with a group of Soviet agents Professor Jones returns home to Marshall College where he is informed that his recent activities have led to his dismissal from the university. But that’s okay; more time for whip-cracking adventures! Indiana runs into rebellious young Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) who pleads with Jones to help save his mother who is somewhere in South America. In true Indy fashion, the duo heads to a land of ancient tombs and lost explorers where they cross paths with the group of Soviet agents led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett). Spalko is on the trail of the Crystal Skull, which she believes will bring the Soviets world domination. So, now Indy must navigate a mysterious land, tussle with his enemies and keep a close eye on questionable friends all while making sure the Crystal Skull does not fall into the wrong hands.

I was so happy when I heard that Indiana Jones is back, that also after such a long break. I still remember how excited as a kid, I use to be to watch his movies. The excitement is still there now that I am a grown up. I was completely satisfied with the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It has all the elements of Indiana movie including suspense, thrill, adventure and action. The comedy in the movie was outstanding, though it was not intended. To me it was a pleasant movie full of entertainment. I would suggest others also to watch and enjoy the movie in a true Indiana spirit. Bruce

- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will give you exactly what you were expecting out of it. Amazing script. Amazing locations. Amazing work done by the star cast. Lisa
- Well if you have liked all other Indiana Jones movies you will like this one too. I like Indiana movies as they are able to create a whole universe among themselves. Kelly
- I agree that the movie has missed out on many details but still the movie offers non stop action, excitement and laughter, that was expected out of it. The movie is fun to watch and nicely fits in the category of the other films in this legendary series. Kevin
- Great comeback. After a long wait of nineteen years Indiana is back with another action-thriller. The movie is a treat to all Indiana Jones fans. Even at this age Harrison Ford was just astonishing. Welcome back Ford and we hope that you will keep entertaining us with your good work. Steve
- There are no doubts regarding the fact that the story of the movie is not that special, but the movie has all that was expected out of it. Adventure, thrill, fun and humor is what, actually hides away all the negatives of the movie. It’s a fun ride all together. Joe
- If I have to compare this one with the other three movies of the Indiana, then this one is the worst one. What were you guys doing for so long that you couldn’t even come up with a good storyline. A terrible storyline that totally ruins the Indiana tradition. Please come up with a better story, if you plan to make a next one. Lori
- No doubt that the movie offers you all that was expected out of Indiana Jones movie. It had good action, thrill, suspense and some real stunts. The movie had all the elements of Indiana movie and it was a fun ride, but it would have been better if a little more stress would have been laid on the storyline. Austin
- It was good to watch Harrison Ford in an action flick even at this age. He as usual did an amazing job with his role. The long wait for nineteen years was worth it. I completely enjoyed the movie. Are you making a next one too? I would love to watch it. But make sure that you don’t take another nineteen years to make the next one. Tricia
- I know that it has been a long wait for the new Indiana movie, but don’t you think that the wait has been worth it. The fourth film in the series is full of action, adventure and thrill at all levels. The movie has excitement, romance, and special effects and above all at the end of the movie Indiana and Marion unites what more can you ask for. Jack
- It’s relaxing, funny and entertaining for all. Through out the movie we all know that in the end everything will get all right. So you can be relaxed and enjoy the action in the movie. Richard
- To all those who haven’t seen the movie yet, here is a suggestion don’t go for it, especially if you have liked the previous one. This one will disappoint you. Not up to the standard of Indiana movies. Eric
- The movie has fresh ideas and it was an awesome idea to bring Indiana back after nineteen years. The movie was a treat and fully entertaining. When is the next one? Cate
- Who says that they have screwed the movie, they haven’t. In fact all of them have done an amazing job. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and George Lucas, have once again proved themselves. Keep the good work going. Rob
- A pleasant echo of the past. Even after such along break creators had not forgotten what Indiana movies used to give to people and what was expected out of it. It is back with the same spirit and this one too entertains its fans like the previous ones. Christopher

- I have been getting a lot of mixed reviews about this movie. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people are just plain grossed out by it. I’m in the love it category. There were a few unnecessary gross out scenes but the rest of it is just awesome straight forward comedy.
- See this one if you’re a fan of films like Talladega Nights, Superbad and Walk Hard. I think you’ll find that is quite a bit to love about it.
- I give “Step Brothers” 8/10, one of my favorite comedies. If you liked this movie, try “Talladega Nights”, “Anchorman”, and “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story”.
- I never thought I’d say this but Step Brothers is one of the best random comedy films I have ever seen.
- I didn’t think much for the acting as most the actors in this movie, well all of them really are playing their usual part.
- Basically this is a fight comedy, although is pretty hilarious and will have you near tears at parts. I’m giving this move a 7/10 squabbling brothers.
- Step Brothers - Two 40 year old men (Will Ferrel and John C. Reily) who live with their single parents find those parents become married. The two men hate each other but soon find themselves becoming friends. They then learn to grow up.
- I have enjoyed both men’s comedic and dramatic talents in the past, but after their most recent effort together: Talledega Nights, a movie that was tiresome and largely unfunny, who thought it was a good idea to bring them back together? Oh that’s right, Adam McKay, the guy who directed and wrote that movie and also directed and wrote this one (There was a script? Really?). It felt like amateur hour at an imrov club. Occasionally something funny gets said or done, but you have to wait through a lot of crude, unfunny crap inbetween.
- This film appears to have been made for the American cinema audience. The slapstick comedy used was at times funny, and the relationship between the two main protagonists was excellently played out.
- I’m not gonna say much.. But if you like the Will Ferrell type of humor, this film is a solid watch! My eyes were watery from laughing at times. A lot of credit goes to Reilly as well.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2-User Review
User Review
The movie is wonderful. It was good to see some girl power back in action. The girls have grown up and their problems and issues are different this time. The movie is sweet, enjoyable movie with good humor and drama.
It’s a story about life. I liked the movie because the instances that have been shown in the movie are real. Anyone can face such kind of problems and the movie actually tells you how to face and tackle such situations in life. The movie will make you laugh, cry and gives the message of appreciating life.
The movie is amazing, it portrays all the emotions. All the characters are true to life and the movie makes you feel that all the characters are very close to reality, discussing real life issues. I just love the movie and will suggest everyone to watch it.
The four girls are equals in this movie. Not only are they equal in terms of their importance to each other, but also in time in front of the camera. This is not a star vehicle for one of these young actresses. Their relationship is the star of this movie.
The sisterhood consists of four teenage girls. And each of the girls are special. They are each intelligent and introspective. And they take the important things in their lives in a mature, serious way. These important things include their personal lives, their personal development, their families, and the history of their families.
I saw this film in Indianapolis in early May before the official theatrical release. I am one of the judges for the Heartland Film Festival that screens films for their Truly Moving Picture Award. A Truly Moving Picture “…explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life.” Heartland gave that award to this film.

You know how sometimes when you go to the movies and you wonder if the movie you are seeing will be worth your money? Well, this movie was definitely worth my money and maybe even more so. “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” was a great movie, quite possibly one of the best that will come out this year because of–among other things–the friendship it upholds, and I highly recommend it.
I think if you’re a 12-15 year old girl, this movie is great for you (or if you like teen chick flicks). It covers the crucial topics addressed in the book, but lacks the depth Brashares originally had. I suggest seeing it just to see it, but don’t expect too much.
I enjoyed this film better than the 1995 “Now and Then,” a movie also about four girlfriends, with two sets of known actresses: Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann and Ashleigh Aston Moore as the young Rosie O’Donnell, Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore and Rita Wilson. “Traveling Pants,” even though with budding young actresses, provided more in-depth emotional journeys, life wisdom, and picturesque romantic Greece for added value. This may be more of a ‘girly’ film, but certainly a family entertainment (likened to Disney quality productions like “The Parent Trap”).
I saw this movie at a screening way back in November, in Phoenix, with my mother. I had gotten her to read the book before we saw it, and we both enjoyed it, so when we heard about the screening, we jumped at the chance to go.
Mamma Mia- User Review
User Review
I will have to say that this one was great. At last a light hearted movie that will entertain you thoroughly. Through out the movie you will have a smile on your face. You know what, when we walked out of the movie hall everyone was singing to the tunes of the movie. What more could you ask for?
Mamma Mia is a wonderful musical movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you just want to enjoy yourself, then this is a good watch for you. You will enjoy the actors and the music of the movie.
Went to see Mamma Mia without particularly high expectations. Not being a big connoisseur (or even fan) of musicals, I didn’t really know what to expect. Though I adore ABBA, I never bothered to watch the stage production of Mamma Mia. But having a cinema membership, I didn’t have much to lose (no money, at least), so I went for it. And boy, am I glad that I did! I can safely say that I enjoyed every second of it. And I’m not even ashamed to admit it!

Basically, Mamma Mia is a superb musical that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re just a little bit crazy and want to have a good laugh, if you love ABBA, want to see Meryl Streep like you’ve never seen her before or if you simply have a secret crush on Colin Firth and/or Pierce Brosnan (his singing was nothing short of hilarious), you will LOVE this movie. Best summer flick so far. Warmly recommended.
If you take it for what it is, a fun laugh out loud film with good actors and fantastic songs, then you will enjoy this film so much.I suspect that this will be a summer box office hit! Enjoy it and have fun - you may need your tissues though as I’m pretty sure some of you will be crying with laughter at some of the scenes.
The film looks great. The Greek locations overflow with sun and primary colours. The script is mostly fairly deft, and there is a sprinkling of decent laughs.
But the film ultimately stands or falls - and it stands, believe me! - on two things: the music, and the cast.
Take a Chance… It’s Surprisingly Brilliant!
